Dr. Nicholas Reynolds is Assistant Professor of Music and Chair of the Performing Arts Department at Volunteer State Community College in Tennessee, and is on faculty at the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Michigan and the Austin Chamber Music Center in Texas. He serves as President of the Nashville Area Music Teachers Association and Newsletter Editor of the Tennessee Music Teachers Association. He was previously Adjunct Assistant Professor of Music and Staff Accompanist at the DePauw University School of Music in Indiana.

In addition to solo, chamber, and concerto appearances in North and South America, Europe, and Asia, Nicholas is a prizewinner at the Los Angeles International Liszt Competition, the San Francisco Young Artist Competition, the Mid-Texas Symphony Young Artist Competition, and the Sidney M. Wright Piano Accompanying Competition. He has appeared at festivals including the Boesendorfer International Piano Academy, the Brevard Music Center, the Chautauqua Institute, the Manchester Music Festival, and the Portland Piano International Festival. Nicholas has performed in masterclasses and worked with world-class musicians including Emanuel Ax, Angela Hewitt, Alexander Kobrin, Jon Nakamatsu, Jon Kimura Parker, Jeffrey Siegel, the Chiara and Miro String Quartets, violinist Pamela Frank, and composers Joan Tower and Jennifer Higdon.

Nicholas’ eclectic interests in music has led to performances with Grammy award-winning violinist Mark O’Connor, the UT Austin Dance Repertory Theatre, and at Classical Revolution concerts, in addition to world premieres in the United States. He has been invited to present his research at various College Music Society conferences, including the International Conference in Stockholm and Helsinki, and regional conferences including the Northeast, the Great Lakes, and the Southern/Mid-Atlantic Joint Chapters.

Originally from Portland, Oregon, Nicholas received a Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance from The University of Texas at Austin, a Master of Music from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music where he was awarded the Piano Department Award, and a Bachelor of Music from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln as part of the Honors Program. His primary teachers include Anton Nel, Mack McCray, Paul Barnes, and Shirley Brendlinger. He also received an Executive Graduate Certificate in Social Entrepreneurship, Cultural Agency, Teaching Artistry, Civic Leadership, and Organizational Management from the Global Leaders Program, and a Graduate Certificate in Arts and Cultural Management and Entrepreneurship from UT Austin.

Nicholas currently resides in Nashville, Tennessee with his wife, violinist Maria Romero Ramos.
